Before the coffee break, B and I toured the home of Kit Carson, famous mountain man, Indian fighter and civil war general. Then, we walked around Taos and strolled the plaza in the middle of town. After a latte we headed to Aztec Colorado via the 'long cut' - i.e. through Carson National Forest and several tiny towns. The road and views were simply awesome. NM has to be one of our all time favorite places.
At Aztec we toured the Indian ruins. Originally these were thought to have been built by Mexican Indians (hence the name) but later found to be American Indians. An entire complex inter-city civilization existed in this area for hundreds of years and in Aztec from 1000 AD to 1200 AD. Quite interesting and well worth a visit.
Then, a visit with Royalty (Dairy Queen) we drove to Durango and set up for the night. Tomorrow we'll tour Durango and if B has her way, ride horses.
