Oklahoma, where the wind comes.....

If you saw the musical or heard the main tune from it, you'll recall the words "Oklahoma, where the wind comes sweepin' down the plains". Well this isn't quite accurate. The wind doesn't sweep down the plains...it's more like it runs or charges down the plains or, even more accurately, comes across the plains like an 18 wheeler running late and trying to make up time. As we drove west we saw what few trees and scrub were around all listed right from vertical by about 25 degrees. It required a steady left hand pull on the steering wheel to keep the van headed straight and the noise from the wind made conversation difficult. We couldn't wait to get out of Oklahoma and away from the wind. As we neared Texas and began looking for an RV park we noticed the usual signs of "Cable TV and Full Hook Ups" gave way to signs saying "Cable TV, Full Hooks and Storm Shelters" What the heck was this all about?
