Sunday
Live almost for free.
After leaving Durango we headed west a bit and found an RV park way off the highway. Very quiet and mostly empty but we did meet Jim, whose wife worked at the office. (Many campers exchange part time work for the site fee and Jim's wife did that, thus they lived for 'free'.) Jim told me that for the rest of the year he lived outside Yuma, Arizona on land owned by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) with a long term (9 month) lease at a cost of $180. Not $180 a month mind you but $180 for the entire 9 months. The BLM supplied water and a dump site at a central location and, many of the leasees lived right around this area, but Jim and his wife chose to live 2 miles away and so had to haul water out to the trailer and bring the black water back to dump but he preferred that to living with others. So Jim's total site costs for the year ar $180.
